Jobdescription | PBS Wisconsin is hiring a full-time news reporter! This is a great opportunity for broadcast and multimedia story-tellers who love politics and policy. Reporting would focus on issues important to all of Wisconsin as we are a statewide network intent on geographic and cultural diversity in our coverage. You’ll join a team of award-winning journalists at a station with state-of-the-art technology and production support. EDUCATION Required Bachelor’s Degree Journalism or related field preferred. Applicants earning a degree in Spring of 2023 qualify. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS – Experience in broadcast and/or professional online video reporting or multimedia content creation. This includes experience gained in school, such as internships or school media production. – Detail-oriented with demonstrated excellent news writing skills, including sharp focus on accuracy, diversity ofvoices/perspectives and understanding of journalistic ethics. – Proven ability to work under deadline in both independent and collaborative settings. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – Strong knowledge of Wisconsin current events and issues. – Experience with reporting on-camera. – Experience operating a video camera. – Experience with non-linear video editing. – Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite applications RESPONSIBILITIES Researches, prepares, and reports stories that are balanced, issue-oriented, and analytical for use in news and/or public affairs programs. Employs editorial judgement to select sources, conducts and records interviews, writes scripts, and may edit audio and/or video during the production of reporting assignments. 60% Contributes content including interviewing sources, writing stories/reports, and completing other necessary production tasks to create news/public affairs reports 10% Applies editorial judgment and maintains industry standards of journalistic ethics and excellence 15% Stays abreast of developments in assigned areas, maintains contacts on continued stories to ensure follow-up, and researches topic areas to provide in-depth reports 15% Collaborates with digital content teams on both long-term and short-term multimedia projects SALARY Minimum $46,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications Actual salary will depend on experience and qualifications |
